Certified Jewellers To Support Your Luxury Purchase
At SEKINE, authenticity is the heart and soul of our business.
Since our first heritage pawnshop was established over 80 years ago, we have been striving to accurately verify and appraise every piece of jewellery that comes into our care.
Unlike many other jewellery stores in Japan, all of our sales representatives are required to obtain qualifications from the Japan Jewellery Association. This ensures every customer benefits from the qualified advice of certified jewellers when making their purchase.
At the minimum, staff are required to pass the Jewellery Coordinator Certification Level Three Qualification within one year of joining SEKINE, with the majority of our staff members now holding Level Three certificates.
We also have three staff members with a Certified Watch Coordinator (CWC) qualification from Japan’s Watch Importor’s Association, a governing body for the accurate appraisal of designer and luxury watches. This highly regarded qualification requires intimate knowledge of a wide range of watch mechanisms, ensuring every SEKINE store has a member of staff with expert verified watch knowledge to accurately value each timepiece for our customers. In addition, our leadership team leverage their unique experience and expertise to support all of our certified jewellers and sales representatives, with regular talks and training on the latest market trends and authentication processes. We also conduct monthly internal tests for staff based on our current stock, ensuring their gemstone knowledge is always accurate and up-to-date.

Along with a dedication to robust jewellery knowledge and identification, we are also committed to expert authentication on the rest of our product range.
We are proud members of the Japan Pawnshop Brand Quality Association, also known as ATF (Anti-Trading Fakes) to combat the sale of counterfeit goods, not only at SEKINE but elsewhere throughout Japan. When verifying items, we regularly update our internal database with findings which are then shared with ATF for full transparency.
